EPHRAIM—The Snow College men’s soccer team won two of their three games last week—with their third and final game earning them redemption from a loss earlier in the week to the same opponent.

Snow played victoriously against Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) for the second time this season on Tuesday Sept. 26. They then battled evenly against Utah State University Eastern (USE) on Friday and Saturday.

Though the Snow College Men’s soccer team didn’t dominate WWCC quite as thoroughly as they did earlier in the season, Tuesday’s game still ended with a 3-1 win.

The game started off with a fast lead when sophomore Sam Bamberlister hit the net in the fifth minute, making the first goal of the game. In the 15th minute, WWCC brought the game to a tie. After a tense 38 minutes, freshman James Peña brought Snow to a lead once more.

Sophomore Felipe Novelini scored the final goal on the 83rd minute, assisted by fellow sophomore Connor Buehner. Snow College took twice as many shots as WWCC’s 12, but it payed off as they scored just enough to bring the game to a solid 3-1 victory.

Friday’s game against USE was rough for the Badgers. Even though they started off their game right with sophomore Luis Miguel scoring the first goal of the game unassisted in the fourth minute, the Snow lead didn’t last long.

The team couldn’t seem to keep their ground when USE scored in the 23rd and 72nd minutes, ending the game with Snow College losing to USE 1-2.

“We dominated the whole game, we just couldn’t score,” says Snows freshman Kade Jorgensen. “We just made two mistakes and let them score. Next week we are going to regroup and work hard in practice to win every game we have.”

On Saturday, the Snow College men’s soccer team redeemed themselves against USE. It was a close call, but the team pulled though with a 2-1 reversal of the losing score against USE on Friday.

BamberLister hit the net for the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute, starting a comfortable lead for the badgers.

USE followed with a goal of their ow, but the Badgers only let that happen once. BamberLister finished off the game with a header goal in the 77th minute, making him Snow’s sole scorer of the game.             The Badgers will be battling on their home turf against The College of Southern Nevada on tomorrow and Saturday.
