OREM – The Gunnison Valley High School G-Gettes competed at the UVU Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 18 at Utah Valley University and brought home the gold.

The event was the G-Gettes’s first competition of the season and will affect their seeding in state competition in February.

Other schools in the 2A competition were North Summit, Duchesne, San Juan, Kanab, and South Sevier. (South Sevier was the 3A champion last year but dropped to the 2A classification this year.)

The G-Gettes placed first in show, first in pom-pom routine, second in military and third in dance. Those placements made them the first-place team overall in the competition.

The team will take a break over the Christmas holiday but will be back in early January to prepare for their next competition at Desert Hills High School in St. George on Jan 8.
