Bulldog softball team gets blowout wins

Last week, the Gunnison Valley softball team won two games handily on the road and improved to 12-6.

On Tuesday, April 13, the Bulldogs defeated North Sevier by a score of 20-3, and on Friday beat Piute 19-3.

In both games, they scored early and heavily.

Against North Sevier, five players got multiple hits, as part of an effort in which Gunnison Valley went up 17-3 in the second inning. Sophomore Lexee Keisel hit a home run. She, senior Sara Blackham and juniors Kennedi Knudsen and Raven Pickett each drove in three RBIs.

Knudsen pitched the whole game, other than the final out. She faced 16 batters, struck out five and allowed only two hits. Keisel got the out that ended the game.

On Friday, the game lasted only three innings, during which Gunnison Valley scored eight, four and seven runs, respectively.

Freshman Maggie Bartholomew led the offense with three hits in three plate appearances, including a double and a triple. She drove in four runs.

Sophomores Rilee Dyreng and JaKelle Sorenson had two hits in three at-bats each, and both drove in two runs.

Keisel faced 15 Piute batters in the three innings. She struck out two.

The team travels to Grand High School today and Millard on Friday.
