MONTICELLO — Drew Hill is so much more than a pitcher, and it showed in two blowout wins against Monticello last week.

Hill could be stopped at neither the plate nor or on the mound in the first game of a doubleheader against Monticello on Tuesday, March 28. Hill led the way with four RBIs off a double and triple.

But really, the game wasn’t only Hill’s. The entire Bulldog team was a force that, well, just plain bulldogged the Buckaroos.

Nearly every Bulldog who got to the plate made a mark on the scoresheet. After only two innings, the Bulldogs led 16-0. Bats continuing to fly, Gunnison unleashed a storm en route to a 25-2 shellacking.

That was immediately followed by an 8-0 stomp to move the Bulldogs’ record to 12-1 on the season, retaining their top ranking in 2A.

In that second game, Hill, senior Gage Mogle and senior Jaden Mayne owned the pitching mound with 13 strikeouts combined, with only two hits.

At the plate, freshman Braxton Sylvester led with 3 RBIs.

Gunnison is now sporting an 11-game winning streak and is ranked by MaxPreps as the No. 9 team in the state.

This week, the Bulldogs were on the road against American Leadership Academy on Tuesday and hosted Beaver Wednesday (both games unavailable at press time).

They continue next week with a home-and-home series against North Sevier. They will play the Wolves at home next Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
