Carla Lee Mickelson

Carla Lee Mickelson, 79, passed away May 25, 2022 at the Gunnison Valley Hospital.

Carla was born Dec. 15, 1942 in Bisbee, Arizona to Henry Earl and Ruth Amanda Johnson Peterson.


Her early years were spent in Bisbee, Heyburn, and Rupert, Idaho.


Carla spent many summers with her mother’s family in Manti. Carla attended elementary through high school in Idaho. In high school she was active in sports and drama.


Following graduation from Minidoka High School, Carla attended Snow College in Ephraim where she met and married Glade Nell in the Manti Temple.


Glade was killed in an automobile accident in 1978. They had three children: Alan (Kathy) Ephraim; LeeAnna (Doug) Haymond, Henderson, Nevada; and Chad (Marci), St. George.


Carla lovingly married William “Bill” Mickelson and gained a “bonus” son, Russell (Michelle) Mickelson now in St. George. They were married for 40 plus years and made their home in Manti until Carla’s passing.


Carla is survived by her husband, Bill, of Manti; children; grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings: Frank Peterson, Heyburn, Idaho; Gae Smith, Marsing, Idaho; and Robyn Baxter, Virginia.


Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in the Manti Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
