MT. PLEASANT—A most honorable final regular season stand unfortunately ended in defeat threefold for the Hawks.
North Sanpete baseball lost all three of their games in a series with Union, with two of them being exceptionally close. The Hawks lost, 4-3, on the road last Tuesday, then lost 13-3 and 2-1 in a double header at home on Friday. They finished their regular season with an overall 7-14 record and went 3-9 in Region 14 competition.

The Hawks couldn’t get on the board for most of the first game on Tuesday. Finally in the sixth inning, they scored three runs, but it wasn’t enough as Union held on for the win. Junior Aden Christensen notched an RBI in the loss.
North Sanpete was first on the board in the first game of the Friday doubleheader, scoring two runs in the first inning, but Union retook the lead with three runs in the second. Union ultimately turned a close contest into a runaway win in the very last inning with seven runs in the seventh to seal the Hawks’ fate. Junior Angel Navarrette and senior Brayden Olson each hit a double and notched an RBI. Senior Hunter Price had most of the time at the pitching mound and performed admirably, pitching seven strikeouts while allowing three hits. Hawk pitchers combined for an impressive 12 strikeouts.
In the final game, both teams’ hitting ground to a halt as the two squads combined for nine hits. With Union up 2-0 going into the sixth inning, North Sanpete got one on the board courtesy of an RBI single by Price to bring in senior Kylan Taylor, but that was all. Taylor was exceptional in pitching as he tossed 10 strikeouts, allowing six hits.
The Hawks finished up their season and await playoff seeding.
