I would like to commend Mayor Lori Nay and Shawn Crane of the Gunnison City Council and all others who participated in organizing and executing this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Gunnison.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s celebration brought people from other communities near and far to celebrate Independence Day with renewed patriotism and spirit.
Everyone enjoyed the concert by Frankie Lane and the Four Seasons’ Tribute Band—even youngsters that didn’t know Frankie Lane and his music. The community auction and amazing fireworks were only a part of the two special days of celebration.
Scott Andersen did a great job in getting participants for the parade; it was one of the largest in Gunnison’s history. There were floats from several communities including Ephraim, Manti, Salina, Richfield and The Sevier County Royalty.
Our Grand Marshals Jeanie Inouye and Joanie Larson were met with appreciation for all that they and their husbands have contributed to our community. The American Legion and Lion’s Club members as always furnished a scrumptious breakfast and lunch at the park and the Jaycees once again provided a lot of fun games and entertainment for the youth of the valley.
My family has faithfully attended Fourth of July activities in Gunnison for 50-years and everyone felt that this year’s activities were some of the best ever.
Thanks to everyone who made these events possible.
Karen Prisbrey,
Gunnison
