Darrel Robert Ober, 71 of Ephraim, Utah passed away Feb. 3, 2017. He was born April 10, 1945 to Robert Ole and Joyce Leola Reed Ober in Mankato, Minnesota.

He served in the United State Air Force in Turkey during the Vietnam War.  He graduated from the University of Arizona.

He married Marie Silvestri July 8, 1967 in Victorville, California and they raised their five children on a dairy farm in Carlton, Minnesota while he instructed and supported farmers through a local technical college.

He was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in many capacities including home teacher, branch president, bishop, and district president.  He was currently serving as a ward missionary and a sealer at the Manti Temple.

Family was of the utmost importance to Darrel.  He frequently could be found on the sidelines or in the audience at his grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts.  He loved enjoying the outdoors, especially fishing.  Many a grandchild learned to bait a hook and cast a line under his tutelage.

Darrel loved being a part of the community – socializing and contributing wherever he could.  He was a frequent supporter of McDonalds.

Funeral services will be held in the Ephraim 1st Ward (450 N. 200 W.) at 11 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2017.  A visitation prior to services will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park. Condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
