Third place winners of the Fairview City lighting contest were Thor and Kristin Grasteit, 577 E. 100 South. They won a $25 credit on their light bill.

FAIRVIEW— Unlike other cities in Sanpete County that sponsor light parades, Fairview City has been holding a house lighting contest for the past 15 years.

Citizens participate by putting up Christmas lights on their houses by Dec. 1. A panel of judges has two weeks to select three winners, who receive credits on their power bill. First place receives a $100 credit, $50 is awarded for second and a $25 credit is given for third place.

“We just appreciate everybody who lights their houses. It brings a better spirit and joy to the community,” Mayor Cliff Wheeler said. “I think every community feels the same.”

Jeremy and Sarah Mylroie of 50 E. 100 South took second place in the Fairview City lighting contest. The couple won a credit of $50 to go toward their power bill.
First place winners in the Fairview City Christmas lighting contest were Jerry and Tammy Johnson, 286 S. 200 E East. The Johnsons won a $100 credit toward their power bill.
