DRAPER — Still looking for their first conference win of the season, the Manti Templars traveled to Draper to face the 5-1 Juan Diego Soaring Eagles Friday night.
Despite their need to chalk one up for the home team, Juan Diego gained early traction, scoring 21 unanswered points in the first quarter on its way to an eventual 42–14 victory for Juan Diego.
The Templars were able to score their first touchdown in the second quarter, but the Soaring Eagles relied on a powerful rushing attack to grind out two more scores to make it 35–7 at the half.
In the second half, Juan Diego came back with more of the same, scoring its last touchdown in the third quarter to bring their score to 42. In the fourth quarter, the Templars were able to add one more touchdown by Dallin Rasmussen to finish the scoring at 42–7.
Tomorrow the Templars travel to Mt Pleasant to face the North Sanpete Hawks in the annual county show-down. Both teams are winless in conference play with two weeks left in the season.
