GUNNISON– The Gunnison Valley Middle School presented Disney’s “Moana Junior” Thursday through Saturday, February 3-5.

The 60-minute musical adventure, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 2016 Disney film Moana.

The students had been practicing and working hard over the last month to prepare to put on the best show possible.

“See the line where the sky meets the seas” is a theme song in the thrilling and heartwarming stage adaption of the coming-of-age tale followed Moana, played by Shae King, as she set sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage.

She and the demigod Maui, played by Adam Jackson, embarked on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as she learned to harness the power that was within. With its empowering message of bravery, Moana Jr. awakened your inner hero.

The musical was directed by Laura Barlow, Marcie Walker, Debbie Pike and Stella Hill with student director, Aleaha Tabolt. The cast included Soren Jensen as Chief Tui, Allyson Taylor as Sina, and Elias Tabolt as Hei Hei.
