GVHS earns high marks at region drama
DUCHESNE— Gunnison Valley High School drama students earned high marks at the 2A Region Drama Festival, held Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, in Duchesne.
Several GVHS performers placed in individual categories, and the group’s one-act play, “Stains,” took fourth place overall, qualifying for the state competition in April.
Mary Lyons led the way with a first-place finish in musical theater. She also competed in dramatic monologue alongside Ray Donaldson. In musical theater, Bethany Jessop and Rebekah Stewart tied for third, and Ben Walker placed fifth.
Walker also performed in humorous monologue, while Mae Saulter represented GVHS in pantomime.
Director Jody Allred’s original one-act play, “Stains,” will be performed for local audiences at the Gunnison Valley High School auditorium on Monday, April 7 at 6 p.m. The 25-minute production is described by Mary Lyons, one of the performers, as a “mystery for the audience to figure out.”
