After getting pummeled by high-powered Gunnison Valley, the North Sanpete High School baseball team responded with a win over Delta before having to play Delta again and losing—in 10 innings.
The Hawks (7-13 overall and 2-6 in 3A Region 14) lost 17-6 Wednesday, April 28 to Gunnison Valley (See Ben Lasseter’s story on the game.)

to beat Rabbits, then lose in second game
In North Sanpete’s 5-4 victory Thursday, April 29 over Delta, Hunter Price pitched a shutout over at least six innings. Then, in the final inning, a line drive nailed one of his feet.
The Hawks held on after he was helped off the field as Delta scored four runs in the final inning. Coach Dan Christensen switched pitchers again after being compelled to take Price out.
North Sanpete held Delta to four runs when it had 10 hits. Cameron Smith and Gage Cox each had an RBI, while Smith, Cox and Price each hit doubles.
The very next day, Friday, April 30, the Hawks lost 4-3 at Delta in 10 innings. That is a full three innings longer than a normal high school baseball game.
Wayland Crane was both the winning pitcher and drove in three of Delta’s four runs, hitting a home run.
