The Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) program is accepting applications nearly all year round from persons interested in qualifying for help with covering their energy and water costs.

For this year only, there are two signup periods: The first period goes from Nov. 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. You must sign up for this period if you also want to apply for the second period, which runs from April 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2022.

The HEAT program provides energy and water assistance as well as energy and water-related crisis assistance to eligible low-income households throughout Utah. Signing up online is the preferred method at: https://jobs.utah.gov/housing/scso/seal/otherheatforms.html, or you can call 866-205-4357.

Homes are eligible for HEAT if the following criteria are met: the total household income is at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level (see chart), the household is responsible for paying home energy costs, and the household contains at least one US citizen or qualified non-citizen.

Chart from HEAT website.
