Kylee Hanks

Manti Templar senior Kylee Hanks makes All-State Drill Team

Kylee Hanks is a senior at Manti High School and the daughter of Chad and Tressa Hanks. She has been on drill team all four years and is currently serving as the drill team captain.  Recently, Kylee had the opportunity to represent Manti High School at the 3A All-State Drill Team tryouts.

Kylee was honored to attend, as only a few girls from each team are selected to try out. Through multiple rounds of elimination at the state level, Kylee was thrilled when she was chosen as a member of the 2021-2022 All-State Drill Team.

When asked about this experience, Kylee said, “Winning was such an accomplishment; however it’s not the title itself that I am proud of—it’s everything the title represents, which to me is hard work, dedication and a willingness to push myself out of my comfort zone.”

Dessa Estey

Dessa Estey is the daughter of Frank and Lisa Estey of Manti. She is a senior at Manti High School, where she has been a cheerleader for the past four years and where she is a captain for the cheer team this year.

Dessa first learned to love the sport when she started cheering with Just Dance in middle school and was on their competition cheer team. She was one of 16 cheerleaders in the state chosen for the 2021-2022 1A-4A All State Cheer team.

Her coach Trisha Hyde said that she is proud of Dessa for being brave enough to try out. She also said that Dessa “inspires” her.
