GUNNISON – The GVHS production of Guys and Dolls had a successful run last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Laura Barlow (middle school English teacher) and Marcie Walker have directed the middle school musicals the last few years. They agreed to also direct the high school musical this year. To give them time to prepare each show, the high school performance date was moved up a couple of weeks.

Audiences cheered for the high school cast, especially enjoying the showstopper numbers “Luck Be a Lady” (sung by Landry Nay as Sky Masterson) and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” (sung by Eli Lyons as Nicely Johnson).

Fun dance numbers performed by Adelaide (Noelle Condie) and her hot box dancers included “A Bushel and a Peck” and “Take Back Your Mink.”

In the end, Adelaide was finally able to convince 14-year-long boyfriend Nathan Detroit (Aricin Starks) to tie the knot with her. Sky Masterson also ends up married to Salvation Army Sergeant Sarah Brown (Aurora Tolman) after taking her to dinner in Havana for a bet.
