Irene Ora Mace Peterson, 100, of Manti, passed away on Jan, 5, 2018 in Centerfield. Irene was born on June 15, 1917 in Salt Lake City, to George Raymond and Ethel Margaret Lewis Mace.

Irene married Albert Oscar Peterson on June 15, 1940 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 6, 1957. They later divorced. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2005.

Irene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as Relief Society president, and organist for Ward and Primary organizations. She served in the Manti Temple as the organist and loved singing with the Choralettes in Kamas, Utah. She also served as a missionary finding lost members and membership records.

Irene was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her children; William (Irene), Peterson, of Manti, Mark (Mary Anne), Peterson, of Evanston, Wyoming; sister, Ethel Kasteler, of Salt Lake City; brother-in-law, Paul Christy; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Raymond A. (Estelle), Mace, Elise (Wayne), Anderson, Connie Vincent Christy; brothers-in-law, Fred J. Kasteler and Fred J. Vincent; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at noon in the Manti Tabernacle. A viewing was held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery.
