Ruth Beck Christiansen
Jan. 11, 2018
Ruth Beck Christiansen, 98 years old, passed away in St. George, Utah on Dec. 31, 2017.
Ruth was born Jan. 29, 1919 in Centerfield, Utah to Newman Joseph Beck and Stella Petrina Myrup Beck. She was the first girl and fourth born in a family of eight.
She was raised in Centerfield, where she learned the value of hard work by working on the family farm and then going home to help her mother prepare meals and clean. This work ethic followed her throughout her life.
She married her sweetheart Harold McNeil Christiansen on Oct. 14, 1937 in Richfield, Utah. They were later sealed on Aug. 10, 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were married for 69 years before Harold passed away in 2006. Ruth and Harold enjoyed working in the Manti LDS Temple where they served for many years.
Ruth always believed that it was important to treat everyone she came in contact with like family. Her circle of friends is vast and she treasured every one of them. Most important to her was her family. Her legacy is rich and her wise words of wisdom are engraved in our minds. She is loved beyond measure and will surely be missed because she is absolutely one that can’t be replaced.
Ruth is survived by three of her six children; Karl (Karen), Christiansen, Randy (Karla), Christiansen, Lana (Dan), Hogan; daughters-in-law, Michelle Christiansen and Jean Jacobsen; son-in-law Blaine Stilson; 22 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Jennie Stilson, sons Howard and Mark Christiansen and a great grandson Jordan Mallory.
A gathering and celebration of Ruth’s life was held Jan. 6, 2018, with the funeral at noon in the Mayfield Ward. Interment was in the Mayfield City Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com.
