Ivan D. Rowley passed June 17, 2021 in St. George, Utah.
Ivan (Donald) was born Oct. 9, 1935 in Caliente, Nevada to Ivan Rowley and Lela Davis Rowley.
At the age of 13 his family moved to Milford, Utah where he attended school and met and married the love of his life, Barbara Tanner on June 21, 1954. Ivan and Barbara were blessed to have been married for only a week short of 67 years. During their marriage they were blessed with three children: Cheryl, Rodney, and Kyle.
In high school Ivan excelled at all sports. He was a great athlete. After high school he joined the army on the GI Bill knowing it would provide his college education. After the army he attended Utah State University where he received his degree.
When he completed college, he returned to his alma mater to teach math and coach football and basketball. During his years teaching he continued his education in the summers at BYU earning his master’s degree in high school administration.
From Milford he became principal at Beaver High School, Valley High School in Sanders, Arizona, Manti High School and prior to his retirement in 1995 was principal at Richfield High School.
During his career he has been President of the local Teacher’s association, past member and President of Utah State High School Activities Association, as well as chairman of the State Realignment Committee. After retirement they moved to Cedar City where they have resided for the last 22 years.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Barbara Tanner Rowley, his son Rodney of Draper, Utah, son Kyle and wife Patricia of Manti, Utah. Ivan and Barbara have nine grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents, daughter Cheryl Tolley and granddaughter Mindy White.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Southern Utah Mortuary in
Cedar City. Interment was in Milford City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent at www.sumortuary.com.
