Jenny Lou Nielson Peterson Norton, 80, passed away on June 14, 2021 at the Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center in Ephraim.
Jenny was born Aug. 29, 1940 in Ephraim to Niels Adin and Reva LaBelle Breinholt Nielson. She married Ray William Peterson on Oct. 29, 1959 in the Manti Utah Temple. Ray died at the age of 44 due to heart complications. Jenny married Jerry Neal Norton on June 26, 1984 in the St. George Utah Temple.
Jenny has always had a love for the farm “over west”. She loved being with her dad helping in any way and talking of camping with him at the sheep camp and helping him with the sheep. At an early age, Jenny learned to play the piano and organ. Her family and many others have commented that they have never heard anyone play more beautifully. Jenny played the piano in primary for over 30 years and the organ and piano for church meetings for more than 40 years. She commented many times that she never wanted to be released from playing the piano for primary.
Jenny loved planting a flower garden each year and loved taking care of them. She loved the mountains and loved to go for rides, picnics and enjoying the peace and beauty they offered. She worked for Thompson Oil Company as a bookkeeper for more than 20 years and enjoyed the friendships she made while working there. More than anything she loved her family deeply. She loved when the family got together for birthdays, holidays, sporting events, vacations, etc. Family was everything.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active all her life. She loves the Savior and loves knowing families can be together forever.
Jenny is survived by her husband; Jerry Norton, St. George; children: Diane (Dave) Bulow, St. George; Steven Peterson, Ephraim; Sharon (Justin) Cherry, Ephraim; Melissa (Devin) Thorson, Saratoga Springs; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, eight stepchildren and many step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Richard (Bonnie) Nielson, Ephraim; Kathy (Wendell) Droubay, Brigham City. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; and three sisters.
The family of Jenny would like to thank all those at the Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center for all the love and service they gave. We would also like to thank Gunnison Hospice for their caring service.
