Kim M. Olsen, 71, passed away on Aug. 26, 2022 in Gunnison, Utah.

He was born on March 21, 1951 to Allen and Mickey Buchanan Olsen. He married Diane Shepard and together they had two sons, Justin and Michael. Kim and Diane later divorced.

Kim was well known as the Freedom Ford RV mechanic where he worked for many years.

Kim enjoyed spending time with his family whether it is camping, riding four-wheelers or side-by-sides. If he was on his side-by-side, you could hear him coming from miles away. He also loved shooting with his sons and grandkids, where they bickered back and forth, who was the better shot. He was also known to pull out an exploding target a time or two over the years.

Kim was a social butterfly and if you ran into him uptown, you were guaranteed to be held up for at least 30 minutes or more while catching up on what was happening around town.

Grandpa Kim made several memories with his grandkids, rather it was taking them to school and blaring the Yellow Submarine at drop off, picking all of them up every Sunday to get a 64 oz soda in Grandpa’s big ol’ mug. Everyone loved his famous carrot cake on Christmas.

Grandpa made friends with all the mud holes on the mountain, where he more than likely had to be towed out. There are also times when a tire from his side by side would come off and roll past another rider, he had to be towed home more than once.

There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. He was also a practical joker and loved trying to convince his daughter in law that all the scary trails were paved all the way. He would laugh while she was screaming when the trail got a little too hairy.

Kim was a collector of many things: antiques, vinyl records, tools, reloading items and many other oddities that he thought he could tinker with.

Kim is survived by his sons and their wives: Justin and Melanie, Michael and Lanie; brother, Brent Olsen and sister-in-law Barbara; sister, Laurie Ludvigson, brother-in-law, Curtis; and sister, Cathy and her fiancé, Clyde; his 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sever- al nieces and nephews. Kim is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Fred Miller; and mother-in-law, Janice Miller.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Gunnison City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guest- book at http://www.maglebymortuary. com.
