The Snow College Lady Badgers picked up a big win to get themselves into a positive winning percentage in the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a 77-64 victory over the College of Southern Nevada on Thursday at the Horne Activity Center.
The Badgers led by 2 at the end of the first quarter 22-20 but trailed at the half 36-37. Snow College dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Coyotes 19-6. The Badger defense held CSN to under ten percent shooting from the field in the pivotal third quarter.
“We need to have more than one quarter like that one,” said Head Coach Zu Grinsell. “Our defense can really fuel our offense, and that’s a good showing for us. We have some key games at home before playing our last six games of the season on the road.”
Ashlee Edwards led the Badgers with 21 points and nine rebounds, Samiana Suguturaga came off the bench to add 12 points and seven rebounds, and Kenedy Eskelson rounded out the top scorers with 11 points.
Snow College scored 40 of their 77 points in the paint and 32 of their points came from the bench.
“Our bench has been playing really well,” said Grinsell. “It’s nice to know I can call on so many players and they can come in the game and have a positive impact.”
The Badgers are on the road Thursday in Price, Utah to face the Eagles of USU-E.
