Lady Bulldogs schooled by tough APA-Draper team, losing 68-37, then lose to North Sanpete as well in close 48-44 match

DRAPER—The Lady Bulldogs looked the part of a learning team last week against a top opponent.

The Gunnison girls’ basketball team lost their third game of the season by a wide margin as they fell to a high-octane Draper APA offense, 68-37, last Tuesday, going to 1-3 on the season. (The Lady Bulldogs subsequently lost to North Sanpete last Thursday, 48-44. Coverage can be found in the story on North Sanpete girls’ basketball on next page.)

Junior Rilee Dyreng led Gunnison with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Raven Pickett pulled down an impressive 18 rebounds to go with seven points. The Lady Bulldogs’ offense was largely stymied by the quick hands and suffocating defense of the Eagles, who collected a ridiculous 27 steals.

The Eagles led 21-4 after the first quarter and 37-14 at the half.
