MT. PLEASANT—Facing tough competition last week, the scrappy Lady Hawks showed they have more work to do.
The North Sanpete girls’ basketball team lost two games last week to fall to 2-4 on the season. The Lady Hawks lost a road game against North Sevier, 41-28, last Tuesday, then fell to Duchesne, 55-34, at home last Thursday.
North Sanpete struggled to generate a flow in their offense against the Wolves’ defense, instead relying on the free throw line to put points on the board. The Lady Hawks scored 12 points in free throws, only making eight shots from the field in the game. While the game was evenly matched for three quarters, North Sanpete let it slip away early when North Sevier blew them out of the first quarter, 19-2.
Junior Tylee Henrie led the Lady Hawks in scoring with 11 points.
The Lady Hawks were subsequently outscored in every quarter of a blowout loss to Duchesne, but there was a bright spot. Despite the low-scoring output in general, Henrie dazzled in the loss with 23 points, the highest single-game point total of the year for North Sanpete.
North Sanpete will be on the road this Thursday to take on American Leadership Academy.
