Manti boys fall to Richfield, rebound with overtime win at Carbon
MANTI — The Manti High School boys basketball team dropped a close non-region game at home Wednesday night before bouncing back two days later with an overtime road win to split the week.
Richfield edged Manti 62–57 on Jan. 14 at Manti High School, using a strong fourth quarter to pull away late. The Wildcats led 31–28 at halftime and entered the final period up 40–35 before outscoring the Templars 22–12 in the fourth to seal the win.
Manti stayed within striking distance throughout the contest, including a 17–9 advantage in the third quarter that briefly swung momentum. The loss dropped the Templars to 5–12 overall at the time, while Richfield improved to 10–6.
Two nights later, Manti responded with an 81–75 overtime victory on the road against Carbon on Jan. 16, continuing a recent run of success against the Dinos. The win marked Manti’s seventh straight victory in the series, according to MaxPreps game history.
The Templars pulled out the win after the game went to overtime, improving their overall record to 6–12. Carbon fell to 6–11 following the loss.
Manti is scheduled to return to region play this week, including an upcoming matchup against Union.
