Manti girls wrestler brings home first place; Hawk team brings home third place trophy

      RICHFIELD– The Lady Templars and the North Sanpete Lady Hawks wrestling teams competed in their first ever 1A-3A Girls Divisional Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, Utah.

      The Lady Hawks took 13 girls to the divisional tournament, with all 13 wrestlers qualifying for the state tournament, while Manti took five girls, all five of whom also qualified.

      The North Sanpete Hawks competed in Division B and finished third with 155 total team points. Placing second individually were Aubrie Stiglich, Whitley Kinross, Annika Moffitt, Willow Stewart and Belen Wright. Placing third were Journey Toomey, Shae Rawlinson and Hannah Perry. Olivia Richmond and Emma John placed fourth, and Jaydyn Howlett placed fifth, also earning her first win of the season.

                Manti brought home their first girls division champion, Danelynn Castro. Also placing were Ali Hatch in second, Sadie Roberts and Aliyah Zedicher in fourth and Sade Peterson placing sixth.
