SPANISH FORK—The Manti girl’s soccer team wrapped up region play last week with a 3-0 win over American Leadership Academy (ALA).

The win give Manti a perfect record in league play and the undisputed Region Championship.

Manti controlled the tempo of the game, getting 19 shots on goal and allowing only seven by the Eagles.

Lady Templar Jentry Young had the seven saves for a shutout, her sixth of the year.

Manti scored once in the first half and added two more goals in the second for the win. Jamie Bawden, Meg Larson and Megan Olson had the goals for the Templars.

Single elimination state tournament action gets underway this week with the Templars hosting American Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.

The Eagles are the fourth-place team from Region 14. They are 2-8 on the year with both of their victories coming over winless Layton Christian.

A win over the Eagles would advance Manti (9-3-1) to the quarterfinals on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. The Lady Templars would then host the winner after Summit Academy plays Parowan. This contest will be a whole different world from American Prep.

Summit Academy Bears (8-3-1) are the second seed from Region 16. The Bears lost to Uintah and Logan in their first two games of the year. In region play, their only loss is to Maeser Prep. The Bears also played the Lions to a 2-2 tie.

Parowan is the third seed from Region 13 and currently ranked number four in the state. The Rams are 11-3-0 on the year with loses to Cedar City, Millard and Delta.
