Manti Speech and Debate team takes first place at Templar Trials

      MANTI—The Manti Templars hosted the Speech and Debate Templar Trials last weekend, where they placed first overall out of eight teams from around the state.

The Templars nearly doubled the score of the second-place team, Providence Hall.

      Individual placers in Impromptu were Grace Draper, first, David Heslop, third, and Brexton Jensen, fourth.

Foreign Extemp Speaking places were Jannah Abdulkarium, first, Don Southworth, second, and Ramzy Quarnbery, fourth.

Third place in Public Forum Debate was an unbreakable tie between two Manti teams of Grace Draper and Anneke Bahlman and the other team of Lialian Wasden and Jannah Abdulkarim.

      Wrapping it all up with a fourth-place finish in Student Congress went to Alex Hansen.
