MANTI—The Manti volleyball team opened region play last Thursday Sept., 8 when they hosted the Emery Spartans. The Lady Templars played well but came up short, loosing the match, 3-0.

In the first game, the Templars kept it close, tying at 6, 12 and 13 before giving up nine straight points to trail 22-13.

Blocks by Kjerstin Birch and Liberty Kent, along with a serving ace by Marquel Justice, helped Manti narrow the gap and pull within three at 23-20. Emery got the next two points for the 25-20 win

Game two saw Manti tie it at four on an ace by LaRiah Rosser, but pulled ahead to win 25-10.

The third game was again controlled by the Spartans. The Templars put together some nice rallies to stay within striking distance, but lost the game 25-16.

Manti played a non-region game at Juab on Tuesday Sept. 13. Match results were not available at press time.

Manti will host San Juan in a Region 15 contest on Saturday Sept. 17. The Broncos are 6-5 on the year with some impressive wins over several upper division teams.
