MHS baseball ends regular season with wins at home, on the road Seniors help Templar baseball close with win over South Sevier

RICHFIELD—The Manti Templars baseball team ended the regular season with a 16-5 road win over Richfield on Thursday, April 30.
Manti pounded out 12 hits and scored 16 runs behind a balanced lineup and a steady three-pitcher effort. Senior Spencer Robbins set the tone on the mound and at the plate. He worked five innings, scattering five hits and four runs, including two earned runs, with five strikeouts and three walks. At the plate, he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, scored three runs and stole a base, finishing with a team-best 1.583 on-base plus slugging percentage.

Senior Adam Andreason provided the biggest hit production in the middle of the order, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Sophomore Stephen Robbins, despite collecting just one hit in four at-bats, drove in a game-high four runs and crossed the plate three times. Sophomore Carter Keisel added a 2-for-4 day with two RBIs and two runs, and senior Koy Johnson chipped in two hits.

Manti scored runs in bunches, drawing 10 walks and working full counts against Richfield starter Greyson Eyre. The senior right-hander was charged with six runs, all earned, on two hits and three walks, while recording just two outs. Manti totaled 49 plate appearances in the game and repeatedly moved through a lineup that hit .353 as a team.

Senior Durke Larsen reached base and scored twice without recording a hit, and junior Brogan Brailsford added a sacrifice fly among his five plate appearances. Junior Boston Hatch also stole a base for Manti, which stole two bases as a team.

After Spencer Robbins’ five-inning start, sophomore Stephen Robbins tossed a scoreless inning of relief, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out one. Senior Gregg Powell finished the game with an inning of work, surrendering one run on one hit. Together, the pitching staff posted a 3.00 team earned run average, struck out seven and allowed three walks to Richfield batters.

Defensively, Manti fielded at a .920 clip, with Andreason handling five chances cleanly and Johnson adding four. Richfield committed two errors on 24 total chances.

Lund’s big day lifts Manti to senior night win over South Sevier

Kellen Lund delivered a senior recognition day performance on Tuesday, April 28, powering Manti to a 7-6 extra-inning win over South Sevier at home.

Lund led the way on both sides, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs while pitching seven strong innings. His solo home run accounted for the game’s only homer and highlighted an eight-hit effort from the Templars. Lund finished with a .750 average, a 1.500 slugging percentage and a 2.250 OPS.

Manti found support throughout the lineup. Hatch went 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Larsen, Johnson and Powell each added a hit, while Stephen Robbins reached base and scored without an official at-bat. Andreason also crossed the plate as Manti hit .250 as a team.

On the mound, Lund struck out nine, allowing six hits and two earned runs over seven innings while throwing 105 pitches. He held South Sevier to a .194 average. Zach Blackham recorded the final out to secure the win.

Manti worked around seven strikeouts, drawing two walks and taking three hit-by-pitches to generate enough offense, despite stranding six runners.

Following the win, Manti honored its seniors: Durke Larsen, Adam Andreason, Kellen Lund, Gregg Powell, Koy Johnson, Kolton Parry, Russell Squire, Tyler Hermansen and Spencer Robbins.
