GUNNISON—Leticia Rodriguez, Miss Gunnison Valley 2021 will pass on her title on Saturday, April 23 at the Gunnison Valley High School auditorium where three contestants will compete to be the new Miss Gunnison Valley.

The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship, while runners up receive smaller scholarship amounts.

Leticia says being Miss Gunnison Valley is one of the best opportunities she could have experienced.

“From the moment I decided I wanted to run for Miss Gunnison Valley, to the moment of being crowned, and this last amazing year, my year as Miss Gunnison Valley was everything I could ever dream of,” she said.

The opportunities she had to serve her community, as well as teaching others about her personal service project, “I’m Right Here with You,” which focused on suicide awareness, are things that she will cherish, she said.

“Not only did I get to speak about something that touched my heart, but I hoped I helped the community learn how to reach out and offer help to others who may be struggling,” Rodriguez said.

She said she is excited for the moment she gets to crown a new Miss Gunnison so the new queen can have the same experiences she has had.

The contestants for the 2022 crown are:

Noelle Condie
MeiLani Jensen
Abriana Corona

Noelle Condie of Gunnison, daughter of Robyn Westenskow Condie. She is a senior at Gunnison Valley High School where she is a student body officer, the G-Gette drill mistress and captain of the debate team. For her talent, Noelle will sing. “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” a musical theater number.

MeiLani Jensen of Gunnison, daughter of Kirk and Kim Jensen. She is a junior at Gunnison Valley High School. She will dance to “Fight Song” for her talent solo.

Abriana Corona of Centerfield, daughter of Pablo and Mayra Corona. She is 16 years old and a sophomore at Gunnison Valley High School. She will perform a dance solo titled, “Rise Up,” for her talent.

The Miss Gunnison Valley Scholarship Competition begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $8 per adult and $5 per child or student.
