FOUNTAIN GREEN–Surrounded by sparkling beads draped from the ceiling residents gathered at the Fountain Green Elementary School last Saturday, March 19, to see who would be crowned Miss Lamb Day 2022.

After sharing her love of music with a vocal solo in the German language, which she has only been learning for a year, Hallie Probst captured the title and received a $1,500 scholarship. She will replace the 2021 Miss Lamb Day, Lexie Bradley.

“My uncle went on a mission to Germany, and one day I heard him speaking the language and I thought it was a cool language, so I decided to try and learn it as well,” Probst said.

She is the daughter of Josh and Rachal Probst. Her platform title is, “Opening Books, Opening Doors” and her service goal is helping kids in the community get excited about reading.

The Miss Lamb Day royalty was chosen following a pageant that filled the lunch room at Fountain Green Elementary Saturday, March 19. From left are first attendant Madolyn Magnum, queen Hallie Probst and second attendant Kenna Cook. Photo by Marcy Curtis.

During her reign, she plans to help the elementary school with literacy night and book fairs, read to younger children at the local library during story hour and raise awareness about how important reading is.

“Being Miss Lamb Day will give me a greater opportunity to help people realize what great reading opportunities we have right here in Fountain Green,” she said.

Madolyn Mangrum, daughter of Douglas and Shandra Mangrum, was crowned first attendant. She captivated the audience with a rendering rendition of “When I was Your Man” on the piano. She is the recipient of a $950 cash scholarship.

Kenna Cook, daughter of Douglas and Taralee Cook, was selected as second attendant and received a cash scholarship of $700. Her talent was a musical theater performance to the piece, “Once Upon a December,” from Anastasia.

Shaelynn Johnson, who was Miss Lamb Day in 2019, took over direction of the pageant following last year’s trial run of choosing the royalty through an application process.

Miss Sanpete County Ashtyn Childs, who was the emcee for the evening, shared her love of serving and how much she has grown through her reign.

Hallie said that one of her favorite things about the pageant was the friendships she gained with the four other contestants. She said she looks forward to serving the community  any way that she can, whether its through her platform or helping with other activities throughout the year, but especially Lamb Days in July.
