FAIRVIEW—Logan Ludvigson has been sworn in as a Fairview police officer, giving the city a second police officer for the first time.

Logan Ludvigson (center) holds his certificate of graduation from Utah Police Officer Standards and Training (POST). He will become Fairview’s second police officer, the first time the town has had two officers. On the left is Police Chief Steve Gray, Logan Ludvigson and on the right Mayor Brad Welch.

Mayor Brad Welch said that the city determined some time ago that it was time to add a second officer. When the opening was announced, Ludvigson, who was an employee of the Water and Sewer Department, expressed an interest.

Welch said the hiring committee was very impressed with Ludvigson and decided to support his attendance at the Utah Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy. The program entails living on campus for 16 weeks of law enforcement training.

Welch said Ludvigson did not disappoint. He completed POST with high marks in both academic and practical skills. He said the city was very excited to offer the new police-officer position to one of its own.

Ludvigson is currently receiving on-the-job training from Chief Gray and working in the Water and Sewer Department until a successor is appointed. He will then transition to full-time police officer.
