In the judging competition, North Sanpete’s Forestry team took a third place overall. The team consists of Freshman Karson Curtis, Sophomore Tyler Blakely and Junior Kasey Curtis. This was their first time competing together and in this category.

“It was fun to challenge ourselves and try something new,” said Karson. “I think that if we would have had a little more time to study, we could have placed higher; but we were happy to do this well.”

Another judging team in the chapter also did well missing a placement by only a couple points.

“It was a busy week at the high school with Junior Prom, athletic games and even rodeos, so several of our teams were missing members,” stated North Sanpete’s FFA President Kasey Curtis. “But we all did the best we could and we are hoping for a lot more awards and placements next year. I am proud of our chapter and the things that we have all had to overcome and work through this year. With COVID-19 and having a new advisor, we did what we could.”

The FFA also honored students from Delta, Mt Nebo, North Sanpete, Gunnison, North Sevier, Manti, South Sevier, Richfield and Tintic who received awards throughout the year.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s state convention was held virtually as a way to gather in smaller numbers and still give the students the recognition they deserved.
