MT. PLEASANT—The North Sanpete Quilting Guild has presented an American Flag quilt, which many of the organization’s members worked on, to Mt. Pleasant City. The group presented the quilt to Mayor Mike Olsen during city council meeting in mid-June.

Quilting Guild members present Mt. Pleasant mayor, Mike Olsen, with an American Flag quilt. From left are Mayor Mike Olsen, Elna McKay, Mavis Meyer and Debbie McKay.

The local group is assoiated with the Utah Quilt Guild and has approximately 30 members. They meet monthly at the Mt. Pleasant old city hall. Debby McKay, one of the groups officers, said roughly half of the mem- bership had worked on the flag quilt presented to the city.

McKay said the group’s activities are not limited to quilt making. They also make blankets for babies born prematurely, bibs for people in long-term care, and quilts and other items for homeless and women’s shelters.

Membership is open to anyone interested in quilting. Debbie McKay can be contacted at (435) 462-9136.
