MANTI—Maple Mountain scored early against Manti on Monday, March 30, added runs in every inning and took advantage of Templar miscues in an 11-0, five-inning non-region win.

The Lady Templars, 5-7, went scoreless in the first few innings and never recovered. Maple Mountain scored two runs in the first, added three more in the second and broke the game open with a four-run third inning. Two more runs in the fourth extended the lead to 11-0 and set up the mercy-rule finish after five innings.

Manti struggled to generate offense against a sharp Maple Mountain pitching effort. The Lady Templars managed just two hits in the contest, with Chloe Olson delivering the team’s biggest offensive spark on a double. Hallee Barnes added Manti’s other hit as the Templars were limited throughout the game.
In the circle, Danie Alder worked all five innings for Manti, striking out two while facing 38 batters. Alder allowed nine hits and 11 runs, seven of them earned, while Maple Mountain kept pressure on the defense with patient at-bats and aggressive baserunning. The Eagles also drew 10 walks, helping extend innings and add runs.

Defensively, the Lady Templars had trouble limiting the damage, committing five errors that led to extended innings and Maple Mountain scoring chances. Maple Mountain finished with nine hits, while Manti’s defensive miscues played a major role in the Eagles’ four-run third inning that helped put the game out of reach.

Maple Mountain improved to 10-2 with the win. The loss dropped the Lady Templars to 5-7 on the season.

Results for Manti’s April 8 non-region home matchup against Ogden were not available by press time. The Lady Templars will travel April 10 for a 3A Region 13 game against Carbon in Price. Manti will return home the next day, April 11, for a region game against Salem Hills.
