Overhauled Mt. Pleasant Maverik to reopen March 13

A sign outside Maverik in Mt. Pleasant notifies customers that the store is closed during construction while remodeling is underway. Gas pumps remained in operation during the closure.

MT. PLEASANT — Maverik plans to reopen its Mt. Pleasant location at 381 S. State St. on Friday, March 13, following an approximate one-month closure for remodeling.

New framing in place as of Feb. 19 indicated the store is being expanded to the south. Crews on site said the remodeling would approximately double the size of the store.

Updated floor plans show a reconfigured interior that includes reorganized beverage coolers, food service space and retail shelving. The layout also reflects designated kitchen and prep areas, expanded cooler space and adjustments to grocery and candy aisles.

During the closure, local residents took to social media to discuss the shutdown and anticipated reopening. Some said the store needed updates, pointing to restroom conditions and fountain drink areas.

Others expressed frustration about the inconvenience of the temporary closure, while several said they were looking forward to an improved facility.

Crews work on the interior of the Mt. Pleasant Maverik, which will include demolition and reconfiguration of retail and service areas.
