Penny Sue Jensen McInelly

             It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Penny Sue Jensen McInelly, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Penny passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, holding the hand of her husband, after being diagnosed with stage four cancer.

                Born June 27, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Jay Harold and Connie Lue Jensen, Penny was raised with strong family values, a generous heart, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering love for others left a lasting impression on all whose lives she entered.

                After her diagnosis, Penny faced her illness with remarkable courage, grace, and determination. In her final days, she was blessed to spend precious time with her entire family, sharing laughter, memories, and the spirited conversations that defined her so beautifully.

                Penny graduated from Manti High School and soon afterward met and married the love of her life, Gaylon “Lenny” McInelly. Together they shared a wonderful 44 years, 8 months, and 12 days of marriage filled with love, laughter, loyalty, and devotion. Together they created a home where family and friends were always welcomed with warmth, comfort, and good food.

                Penny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her mornings always began with a hot cup of coffee usually before the sun was up. She loved spending time with family, her grandkids meant the world to her, and she was so proud of each one. She especially treasured family gatherings, good food, and lunch outings with her close friends. Her baked beans became a family favorite, and her homemade Orange Julius was remembered by people even years later.

                The younger Penny cherished camping trips with her family and cruising in her green Mustang convertible with the wind in her hair and joy in her heart. The older Penny loved going for rides and took trips all over the state and west coast looking for adventure and new places she had not been.

                Penny’s infectious laughter and enthusiasm touched everyone she met. She approached each day with positive energy, and genuine happiness. She had a deep love for family and was proud of her Danish heritage, Penny found comfort and meaning in her family roots.

                Penny is survived by her husband, Gaylon McInelly; her daughters, Breezy (Sean) Braithewaite, Misty McInelly, and son, Lenny McInelly. Her grandchildren; Brandon, McKay, Taylor, Mason, (Braithewaite), Destiny (Ruiz), Caleb and Damon (Benitez), Grady Nevada (Jacobsen). She is preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley McInelly, by three brothers, David, Jed, Kurt (Jensen) and sister, Jacqueline Jensen. Parents and Grandparents. 

                In her final moments, she found peace in “The Viking Prayer.”

“Lo, there do I see my father.

Lo, there do I see my mother.

And my sisters, and my brothers.

Lo, there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning.

Lo, they do call to me.

They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla,

Where the brave will live forever.”
