RaNee P. Jensen, 87, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 in Salt Lake City.

RaNee P. Jensen

RaNee was born Dec. 5, 1934 in Glenwood, Utah to Leo William Peterson and Hazel Christiansen Peterson. She married Arno F. Jensen, Jan. 31, 1959 in the Manti Utah Temple. They shared 61 years together. He preceeded her in death, April 28, 2020.

RaNee grew up on the mountain and loved to spend her time at the cabin. She enjoyed reading and doing handwork quilting, piecing, crochet and more from her mountain home. She enjoyed walking through the hills and looking for wildflowers around her cabin almost as much as she loved listening to George Strait.

Her family was everything to her. After raising her nine children on their family’s dairy farm, she resumed teaching at Gunnison Elementary. She was a passionate educator and spent a year teaching in Glendora, California before marrying.

RaNee was never a woman to complain. She was always “just fine” and never wanted to be a bother to anyone. She loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren compete at their ball games and would often travel to watch and keep score for them. Upon graduation she would paperclip all of her saved stat sheets from their games and deliver them to her kids. Her legacy of selfless service will live on through her family.

RaNee was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many different callings.

She is survived by her children: Kerri (Craig) Payne, Wendy (Jim) Reynolds, Stewart (Lori) Jensen, Greg (Candace) Jensen, Morgan (Sharee) Jensen, Rohn (Monica) Jensen, Candice (Thomas) Sorensen, Derk (Toni) Jensen, Suzette (Brady) Mickelson; 32 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild; siblings: Karmen Buchanan, Pam Gay. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three great-grandchildren; her brother, Roger Leo Peterson; brothers-in-law, Larry Gay, and Woodruff Buchanan.

Private family funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022. Please join the family for viewing Thursday evening Aug. 4, 2022 at the Centerfield 1st Ward Chapel, from 6-8 p.m. There will be no public viewing on Friday. Live streaming and online guestbook can be found under RaNee’s obituary http://www.maglebymortuary.com.
