On Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, Rick Adam Simons went home to the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Rick passed surrounded by his wife and family, while many others held him in their hearts.
Rick’s family extended far beyond those that shared his name. His love, generosity, and willingness to accept anyone and everyone brought a new definition to the term “family.” Rick didn’t care where you came from or what you had done, he would welcome you in.
If you had struggled in life, he’d give you the chance to become better. If you had led a good life, he would give you the chance to keep improving.
Rick’s love for Jesus was apparent in all he did. He loved to serve at whatever church he was attending and would do anything that was needed. If Rick could have gone to church every day, he would have.
He loved sharing how God had changed his life and wanted that difference for everyone around him. He gave second chances to people the world had given up on and welcomed so many into his home.
Rick loved to have fun and be surrounded with those he cared about, sharing stories and laughs. Some of his happiest moments were when he could offer up a bar-b-que to share his love with people. Sometimes that took the form of a surprise lunch because he wanted to show appreciation for his employees, and other times it was inviting people into his home to experience his grilling expertise.
And blessed were those that got to experience his homemade carnitas. He was in his element when he was surrounded by people. No matter how big the event, Rick made sure that everyone felt welcome.
This love extended out onto the water. His excitement at the prospect of taking someone out for a fishing excursion on his boat was infectious. Spending a day out on the lake with family and friends always brought him so much joy. If he could have grilled out on the water, he might have never come to shore.
Rick put his passion into everything that he did. From running a pizza shop with his wife to creating a business with his friend that eventually became part of a million-dollar corporation, from his food to his fishing, camping, hunting, and family trips, he put his heart into everything. Rick lived from his heart, and he shared it with everyone.
If you knew Rick, you knew that all he ever wanted to do was make a difference in people’s lives. Whether offering to pay for a funeral, paying for someone else’s wedding, taking you out on his boat or inviting you into his office to talk about what is going on in your life and how he could help, Rick invested in people’s lives. Rick genuinely cared about people.
He wanted the best for everyone and if there was anything he could do to help, he wouldn’t hesitate to offer whatever he had. We may never know the full extent of the lives he touched, whether directly or indirectly.
Rick is survived by his wife, Robyn Simons; his children, Trevor, Sarah, and Ethan; his parents, Rick T. and Kimberly Simons; his siblings Aaron (Joni) Simons, Abram (Andrea) Simons, Peter Simons, Seth Simons, and Timothy (Brooke) Simons; his grandmother, Louise Eddy; a herd of nieces and nephews; and a legacy that will continue far beyond his time on this earth.
