EPHRAIM—A sign supposedly informing travelers of a future tollbooth at Ephraim Canyon is a myth now debunked.

The photo above was taken last week at the mouth of Ephraim Canyon by local resident Paul Gardner, which showed a sign being placed by unknown sources warning of the upcoming addition. At first causing some alarm among those who frequent the canyon road, but Sanpete Forest Services and Sanpete County Commissioner Claudia Jarrett responded to inquiries about the sign by completely dismissing its authenticity, saying that the sign is likely a prank.

As such, Jarrett affirms that the county has no plans to erect a tollbooth in Ephraim Canyon.

Prior to inquiries, Jarrett and the Forest Service had no knowledge of the sign’s existence
