EPHRAIM—The Snow College men’s basketball team took a step back last week, in a back-and-forth start to a delayed season.
The Badgers lost by a hair on the road at Western Wyoming Community College, getting edged out by the Mustangs, 77-75, last Friday. The Badgers overall record moved ultimately to 3-2 last week after a less-publicized win over Central Wyoming Community College, 109-67, last Saturday.
The Badgers had shot over 50 percent from the field in each of their first three games as they fought to a 2-1 opening record, but Western Wyoming’s defense gave Snow fits as their shooting percentage freefell to 39 percent from the field, even though they went a respectable 13-32 from the 3-point line. Poor shooting from the paint and midrange poisoned what was otherwise a solid game by Snow. The Badgers controlled the ball expertly with only four turnovers.
Sophomore Matt Norman led all scorers with 25 points on 9-24 shooting, while freshmen Ross Reeves and Tredyn Christensen each put in 13 points apiece.
Up next, the Badgers rematch with Western Wyoming on Tuesday at home, after which they’ll host Casper and an exhibition matchup with Rexburg United over the weekend. The Region 18 slate begins with a home contest against Southern Nevada next Tuesday.
