The Snow College Men’s Basketball team picked up two wins in their first home stand in the 2021-2022 season, beating Arizona Western 82-78 and Jump Start 117-70.

Even though the Badgers lead for most of the win over the Matadors of AWC, the game was close for most of the second half. Snow led by as many as 12 points in the first half and held a 9 point lead at the half. The Matadors quickly erased that lead and stayed close throughput the second half.

“AWC is a very good team,” said Coach Rob Nielsen. “We had to play well to win this game and there are some things we still need to work on, but I was pleased with how we faced adversity and the challenge.”

Hagen Wright came off the bench to spark the Badgers with 25 points on 9-12 shooting from the field, 2-2 from behind the three point line and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Wright also led the team with eight rebounds and four steals.

“Hagen really gave us a spark off the bench.” said Nielsen. “We have struggled starting games and have trailed at the half our last two wins. Hagen helped us get started a little earlier.”

Clayton Southwick added 18 points and Chase Potter had 12 points in the Badger win.

Saturday Snow College took care of business early and never looked back in the win over Jump Start.

Wright got the start against the Snow Foxes and came up big with 24 points. Southwick scored 17 and potter added 14. Ben Tew came off the bench with 14 points and Drake Allen added 11 in the first half. Snow College will be on the road this week to play two ranked teams in Florida.
