The Snow College men’s basketball team continued its perfect season last week, defeating Salt Lake Community College and Utah State University Eastern to improve to 18-0 overall and extend its home winning streak.
The No. 1-ranked Badgers opened the week with a 90-69 win over Salt Lake Community College on Tuesday, then followed with an 81-74 victory against No. 23 USUE on Thursday.
Snow entered the stretch coming off a 96-65 win over Colorado Northwestern to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play, a result that secured the program’s 19th consecutive home victory.
Against Salt Lake, Snow jumped out to an 11-3 lead before the Bruins responded with a 13-5 run to take an 18-17 advantage midway through the first half. Snow answered with strong inside play and rebounding, building its largest first-half lead after a 3-pointer from Bron Roberts and layups from McCaden Adams and Sam Sivulich.
The Badgers dominated the glass in the opening half, outrebounding Salt Lake 28-10 and holding a 12-2 edge in offensive rebounds. Snow converted those opportunities into 12 second-chance points and carried a 47-39 lead into halftime.
Snow opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 57-41 lead, capped by a fast-break dunk from Brock McClure. After Salt Lake trimmed the margin to seven, Snow pulled away with a 14-4 burst and closed out the win.
Adams led all scorers with 22 points and five rebounds. Sean Felts posted 19 points and 14 rebounds, while McClure added 14 points and six rebounds. Roberts finished with 13 points, and Sivulich recorded 11 points, 10 assists and six rebounds.
Snow returned to the court Thursday to face USUE, which entered the game riding a 14-game winning streak and ranked No. 23 nationally.
The teams traded leads early before McClure scored seven straight points to give Snow a 27-20 edge. USUE closed within two late in the half, but Felts sparked a response and Snow took a 44-35 lead into the break.
Snow maintained a double-digit advantage for much of the second half before USUE surged with a 16-1 run to tie the game at 72 with three minutes remaining. Adams answered with a pair of free throws and a layup to regain the lead, and Snow sealed the win at the free-throw line in the final minute.
Adams again led the Badgers with 19 points. Blake Bahr scored 15 points, McClure recorded his ninth double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Aaron Bliss added 10 points and nine rebounds.
With the two wins, Snow improved to 18-0 and extended its home winning streak to 21 games dating back to last season. The Badgers are one of four NJCAA Division I teams with an undefeated record.
Snow travel to Idaho today to face No. 11 College of Southern Idaho before taking on North Idaho College on Saturday.
