Snow women’s soccer stays unbeaten; men add shutout

EPHRAIM—Snow College’s soccer teams swept Colorado Northwestern Community College on Oct. 3, keeping the women unbeaten in conference play and giving the men their sixth win of the season.

Women’s
The Badger women won 5-0 to improve to 6-2-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The men won 7-0 and stood 6-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the conference.
For the women, the victory was their fourth straight. That run began with a 14-0 win at Pacific Northwest Christian on Sept. 19, followed by a 2-1 victory at Truckee Meadows and a 1-0 win at College of Southern Idaho before the return home.
Arie Bunce opened the scoring against CNCC in the 10th minute, assisted by Caliyah Wagner. Jolee Irvin scored in the 37th minute on an assist from Emma Glenn, and Glenn added a goal in the 40th minute with Irvin providing the assist.
Julie Huddleston scored after halftime, and Kelsie Peterson completed the scoring on an assist from Anna Monson. The five goals came from five different Badgers. Snow recorded 35 shots and 15 shots on goal, while goalkeeper Caroline Penrod made two saves to keep CNCC off the scoreboard.
The women began the season with losses to Iowa Western, 1-0, and Indian Hills, 3-0. They then opened conference play with an 8-0 win at CNCC, tied Salt Lake Community College 1-1 and beat Utah State University Eastern 2-1. A 0-0 tie at North Idaho preceded their current winning streak.
Men’s

Snow’s men’s victory over CNCC included goals from six players and an own goal. Jace Thomson scored in the fourth minute, and the own goal gave the Badgers a 2-0 halftime lead.
Zach Henn, Christian Nsa, Gabe Newman, Kade Davis and Jorge Beltran scored in the second half. Josh Kilsby and Isaac Stanley assisted Henn’s goal, while Davis assisted Nsa’s. Snow outshot CNCC 36-3 and put 17 shots on goal. Kahler Speyer made one save in the shutout.
The men opened their season with an 8-1 win over Casper College before losing 3-2 to Arizona Western, tying Indian Hills 2-2 and losing 4-0 to Mohave. That left Snow 1-2-1 before conference play began.
In the conference, the Badgers beat CNCC 8-0, lost 4-1 at home to Salt Lake, beat USU Eastern 2-1 and lost 3-0 at North Idaho. Snow then won 9-0 at Pacific Northwest Christian and 1-0 at Truckee Meadows before tying CSI 1-1 on Sept. 26.
The Oct. 3 wins completed both teams’ regular-season series against CNCC. Across the two meetings, Snow’s men scored 15 goals without conceding, and the women scored 13 without allowing a goal.
Snow’s women are 2-0-1 at home and 4-1-1 on the road, with one neutral-site loss. The men are 3-2 at home and 3-1-2 away, also with one neutral-site loss.
Upcoming games
Both Badger teams are scheduled to host North Idaho on Thursday, Oct. 8, and Pacific Northwest Christian on Saturday, Oct. 10. The men will seek to reverse their earlier loss to North Idaho, while the women enter the return match after the teams’ scoreless tie in September.
