GUNNISON VALLEY

GUNNISON—After an impressive run to start the season, Gunnison Valley boys’ soccer finally added a loss to their record, capping off a 2-1 week for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs pulled out impressive wins over Beaver, 4-3, and South Sevier, 4-0, before running into Juab. Despite an honorable fight, the Wasps stung the Bulldogs, 3-0, last Friday. The Bulldogs’ record now stands at 4-1.

Junior Bryson Sorensen led Gunnison with two goals against the Beavers, but it was junior Jon Willden who put on a show after that as he scored a hat trick against the South Sevier Rams. Junior Brogan Christensen claimed Gunnison’s first shutout of the season.

The Bulldogs will travel to face Parowan this Wednesday and will host Millard this Friday.

MANTI

MANTI—After a rough start, Manti boys’ soccer appears back on track.

The Templars pushed their record out to 4-2 overall with a three-game winning streak, beating Emery in a neutral site, 4-1, then beating Providence Hall, 4-0, and Union, 3-2.

Manti had four different scorers, three of them off assists, in the game against Emery. Sophomore Kyle Steinfeldt led with two goals against Providence Hall, while senior Juan Palmerin led with two goals against Union.

The Templars will have a busy week ahead. Having played Millard at home after press time on Monday, they’ll take on rival North Sanpete at home this Wednesday before hosting Juab on Friday.

NORTH SANPETE

MT. PLEASANT—The season has not gotten any easier for North Sanpete boys’ soccer as they remained without a season victory after last week.

The Hawks were routed by Juab, 9-1, fell to Delta, 3-1, and were again routed, this time in a shutout, by Ogden, 8-0. North Sanpete now stands at 0-4 on the season.

Senior Dante Lowe scored the first goal of North Sanpete’s season in the second half against the Wasps. Huntington Dimick had the goal for the Hawks against Delta.

North Sanpete will face Manti this Wednesday and will travel to take on Union on Friday.
