Spring City Canyon Road to close four days a week through Oct. 21

SPRING CITY—A month of gravel work and fall livestock shipping will close Spring City Canyon Road to all traffic four days a week, starting Monday.

The Sanpete Ranger District will close Forest Road 0036 from the forest boundary to its junction with Forest Road 0150, known as Skyline Drive. The closure applies Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road stays open from Friday through Sunday and reopens each day at 5 p.m.

The order took effect Sept. 21 and runs through Oct. 21, unless the Forest Service rescinds it earlier.

Forest Supervisor Barbara Van Alstine signed Closure Order 04-10-26-01-02 on Sept. 18. The order states the closure protects public health and safety during gravel application and livestock shipping on the district.

The order bars anyone from being on the closed section of road under 36 CFR 261.54(e). It exempts three groups: holders of Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48, which allows travel on roads otherwise restricted by regulation or order; federal, state and local officers and members of organized rescue or firefighting crews working in an official capacity; and holders of special use and grazing permits who coordinate entry with the district ranger.
