Coach Wilbur T . Braithwaite Memorial Scholarships were awarded to three Manti High Seniors on Monday, May 16.
Scholarships to help students further their education were presented this academic 2021-2022 year by Coach Braithwaites’s son, Paul Charles Braithwaite of Brigham City. Recipients were Talia Cluff, Tiffany Hermansen, and Mathew Luke Olsen.

Talia is the daughter of Joel and Erin Cluff of Manti. Since arriving in Manti from Texas Talia has been elected to student government at Manti High School all four years. She currently serves as Student Body President.
Very gifted in theater as well as the musical segment, Talia has represented Manti High well at the Science Olympiad. She picked up a tennis racket as a freshman and worked hard each year to improve. As a senior this year she has played on the #1 Doubles team which was undefeated in region play.
Talia plans to attend Snow college and then serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The excitement of the Lady Templars Softball team winning the State Championship two days earlier was still fresh on awards night. Tiffany Hermansen, served as team captain, senior pitcher and “cheerleader.” She has actively taught others softball skills and played on the varsity basketball team as well. She has strived to earn the trust of others “on and off the field.”
Tiffany is the daughter of Todd and Rebbeca Hermansen of Ephraim. She has accepted a tuition-free offer tendered by the Salt Lake Community College and will play collegiate softball there.
Mathew, the son of Darrel and Corrine Olsen of Ephraim, has his sights on a bachelor’s degree in engineering, since he “likes to know how things work and how to build things.” Mathew was instrumental in the MHS green car club first place honors, April 26th at the Green Power Race in Grantsville.
“I wasn’t sure we were going to get the wiring to work in time, but in the end it all worked out perfectly.” he said. Besides Matthew’s passion for science, he includes music and has been active with the concert, pep and jazz bands. He plays many instruments and participates in a vocal group as well.
