Tonya Martha Duncan Bown, 63, of Manti, passed away Aug. 31, 2022 in Gunnison.

She was born on July 9, 1959 in Mt Pleasant, to Billy Dean and Martha Alice Nielson Duncan. She was a small baby, always smiling, although shy. Her nickname was “Sunshine”.

Tonya loved babies and had always wanted to be a mother. She loved helping people, and especially her family. She genuinely cared about them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she spent as much time with them as she could. She loved the mountains and particularly visiting the Nielson Cabin.

She served with the Manti Ambulance for 20 years and loved helping other people. She worked at the Moroni Turkey Plant for 30 years, a devoted employee, even working when she was sick.

Tonya married Roger Bown on June 30, 1979. Together they had four children: Emily (Mike) Young, Jenny Bown, Brittany Bown (deceased) and Christopher Bown.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, Jax and Aubrey; siblings, Stanley (Lucy) Duncan, Ruby (Lenard) Stull, Jody (Paul) Arnold, Paula (Mike) Smith. Tonya was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Niel and daughter, Brittany.

She fought debilitating illnesses most of her life with courage and determination. You will be missed. If you would like to contribute to the family, please contact Tonya’s daughters; Emily or Jenny.

Graveside services and Interment were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Manti City Cemetery. Online condolences at http://www.magleby- mortuary.com.
