Two local teams take first place in Central Utah

            RICHFIELD–Two middle school-age basketball teams from the Manti area took first place in the Central Utah Basketball League championship.

            The CUBL is a competitive basketball tournament for fifth to eighth grade students in central Utah. The Manti Templars took first place in the fifth and eighth grade divisions.

            The season typically lasts from the last week in January to the third week of March. Once the regular season ends, the teams are bracketed based on their respective winning percentages and placed into a tournament.

            The 2022 tournament was played on March 19 at South Sevier High School and South Sevier Middle School in Monroe.

            The participating teams consisted of schools from the Beaver, Delta, Emery, Gunnison, Juab, Manti, Millard, North Sanpete, North Sevier, Panguitch, Richfield and South Sevier county areas.
